Kendamil Organic vs Classic: What’s the Difference?

By Kendamil Ghana · Updated · 5 min read

Kendamil Organic and Kendamil Classic share the same whole-milk recipe. The main difference is the milk: Organic uses certified organic whole milk, Classic uses whole milk from grass-fed cows on family farms. Nutritionally, they are almost identical.

What do they have in common?

Most formulas are made with skimmed milk, with vegetable oils (often palm oil) added for fat. Kendamil starts with whole milk, so some of the fat comes from the milk itself. Both Classic and Organic:

  • use whole milk as the first ingredient
  • contain no palm oil, soy oil or fish oil
  • get their DHA from a plant-based (algal) source rather than fish, which makes them suitable for vegetarian families
  • contain GOS and FOS, two prebiotic fibres

At Stage 1, both provide 67 kcal, 1.3g protein and 3.6g fat per 100ml made up. Our guide to the stages covers how those numbers change as your baby grows.

What makes Kendamil Organic different?

Kendamil Organic is made with organic whole milk, certified by the EU organic scheme and the Soil Association. Organic farming has strict rules on animal welfare and does not allow GMOs or most synthetic pesticides and herbicides. It can take up to two years for a farm to convert.

Those standards make the milk more expensive to produce, which is why Organic costs more. See current Kendamil prices in Ghana.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose Classic if you want Kendamil's whole-milk recipe at the lower price.
  • Choose Organic if organic certification matters to your family and fits your budget.
  • Ask about Goat if you are looking for a formula made with goat milk. See Kendamil Goat vs Organic.
